The Georgia Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0 SEC) will travel to Bryant-Denny Stadium to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0, 3-0 SEC) this weekend in a huge SEC contest. The very first meeting between these programs was Nov. 2, 1895 where Georgia won 30-6. The most recent meeting was Dec. 6, 2025 where the Georgia Bulldogs won 28-7 in the SEC championship game. There is a large gap there from the first ever game between the Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide all the way to the most recent game but in between those years there have been some outstanding battles in some big-time games.
The largest margin of victory in this matchup between Georgia and Alabama was in three separate seasons. In 1905 and 1923 Alabama won each of those games by a score of 36-0. In 1948,
Georgia won 35-0. When looking at the longest streaks of this great matchup, Alabama has a streak of seven straight wins from 2008-2021. Georgia held a five game winning streak from 1910-1916.
It has been the recent matchups that has increased this rivalry to another level with several of these contest having championships on the line.
Georgia football vs. Alabama series history
2025: Georgia 28, Alabama 7

Georgia took revenge on Alabama from losing to the Tide earlier in the 2025 season. Georgia came out dominant and finished the game dominant. Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton passed for 156 yards and three touchdowns in the contest while Georgia running back Nate Frazier rushed for 52 yards and a score. The defense shut down anything that Alabama thought they had going and the Bulldogs held them to just seven points.
2022: Georgia 33, Alabama 18
This matchup was special because Georgia defeated Alabama for the national title and the opponent made it that much sweeter for Bulldogs fans everywhere. Georgia would get its revenge on Alabama once again after falling to the Crimson Tide in the SEC championship game just weeks prior.
Georgia was trailing in this national title game 18-13 before Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Adonai Mitchell to take the lead. Another touchdown pass to Brock Bowers would extend that lead. The famous interception from Georgia cornerback Kelee Ringo was the clincher. After Alabama quarterback Bryce Young threw a pass to give the Crimson Tide just one more chance, Ringo would jump in front and take the ball 79 yards for a touchdown to seal the deal for the Bulldogs to take the national championship back to Athens, Georgia.
2018: Alabama 26, Georgia 23
The national championship was on the line for this contest and it was nothing short of spectacular but very heart breaking for Bulldogs fans everywhere. Georgia would dominate the entire first half of the game and a long touchdown by Mecole Hardman and some key field goals by Rodrigo Blankenship. The first half score going into halftime was 13-0 Bulldogs on top.
Alabama coach Nick Saban would then make some changes at quarterback by benching Jalen Hurts and placing true freshman Tua Tagovailoa behind center. Tagovailoa took control of the offense and threw for three touchdown passes with one of those being the 41-yard game winner to freshman DeVonta Smith.
2012: Alabama 32, Georgia 28
The 2012 contest was one of the historic matchups in this series. With a national championship trip on the line, Alabama would hold off with the win after the Georgia Bulldogs had a drive that was close but ended just short of finding the endzone on a play that ended up running the clock out in the SEC championship.
The game went back and forth in what many people thought was the real national championship game. Alabama would go on to dominate Notre Dame in the national title game.
2007: Georgia 26, Alabama 23
In 2007, the Georgia Bulldogs would give Alabama everything they had and more. It took overtime to win this contest as quarterback Matthew Stafford would lead the Bulldogs to victory in Tuscaloosa on a 25-yard dime to wide receiver Mikey Henderson. This game was at Bryant-Denny Stadium which would be the last time Georgia defeated Alabama at Alabama.
All-time history: Alabama leads 45-27-4

The Bulldogs will get the chance this Saturday to defeat Alabama at Bryant-Denny for the first time since 2007 but it will take a full team effort and some great coaching by Georgia's tremendous coaching staff. Alabama also has a great chance to extend that streak at home with home field advantage along with a great team and an outstanding coaching staff. Both teams will look to continue its dominance in a big-time SEC clash.
