Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback and ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy thinks that Georgia has the highest floor in college football. Despite having a high floor, McElroy views Georgia as a team with a more variable ceiling.
He ranks Georgia No. 6 in his top 10 and thinks the Bulldogs' season will depend on young receivers being able to make plays. McElroy ranks Georgia lower than both the US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Poll.
"The ceiling depends almost entirely on some 19 year-old wide receivers becoming huge problems for people in October," McElroy said. "So no one will be shocked, myself included, when Georgia wins 10 games. But I also think too the ceiling is something that needs to be proven this year with a more explosive
offense."
Wide receivers are certainly a concern for Georgia entering the 2026 season. The Bulldogs lost six of their seven leading receivers from last season including Georgia single season receptions record holder Zachariah Branch.
The Dawgs only added one receiver transfer (Georgia Tech's Isiah Canion) and will look for inexperienced players to find immediate success. Georgia is counting on the likes of Talyn Taylor, Sacovie White-Helton, CJ Wiley and more to step up to compliment London Humphreys. The Bulldogs could also look to get more production out of tight ends this fall.
