Georgia Bulldogs quarterback commit Colton Nussmeier was looking for a place to play his senior season of high school after he was ruled ineligible to play at Denton Ryan High School. Now, he has found his transfer destination. Nussmeier will play his senior season at Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie, Louisiana, according to Sam Spiegelman of Rivals.
Nussmeier is a four-star prospect from the class of 2027. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound gunslinger is the No. 10 quarterback recruit and No. 199 overall recruit in the nation. He committed to Georgia on June 5.
Nussmeier was ruled ineligible to play after transferring from Flower Mound Marcus High School to Denton Ryan. According to Greg Riddle of the Dallas News, A 3-5A Division I district executive
committee ruled 3-3 to disallow his transfer.
Denton Ryan has won three state championships in its history and has produced NFL talent such as tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders, defensive lineman Mario Edwards, linebacker Anthony Hill Jr., and defensive back Billy Bowman.
There were thoughts that Nussmeier would transfer to an elite high school program in Georgia, like Buford or Milton High School, to play closer to Georgia. However, he will play at a high school about 12 minutes from New Orleans, Louisiana, where his dad, Doug Nussmeier, is the offensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints. Colton Nussmeier is also the younger brother of former LSU Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who played high school football at Flower Mound Marcus.
