The Green Bay Packers have suffered several key injuries on defense. During the Packers' 17-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay lost linebacker Edgerrin Cooper for the season due to an Achilles injury.
Prior to the Bucs game, the Packers placed former Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Warren Brinson on injured reserve. Brinson is dealing with a groin injury.
Brinson was a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. He posted 13 tackles and 1/2 sack in 11 games as a rookie. Brinson has not appeared in any games in 2026 and now he'll have to wait until at least Week 9 to make his debut.
Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur said the team expects Brinson to miss a significant chunk of time. Brinson is a depth piece for the Packers when healthy. With
him out, Green Bay will hope that Devonte Wyatt, Javon Hargrave and other key defensive linemen can stay healthy.
The Packers are off to an uninspiring 2-2 start to the 2026 NFL season. Green Bay's defense has had an up-and-down start to the season. The Packers performed well on defense against the New York Jets and Tampa Bay, but struggled in primetime against the Atlanta Falcons and gave up a ton of points to the Minnesota Vikings.
