The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs (4-0, 2-0 SEC) host the Vanderbilt Commodores (3-1, 0-1 SEC) in another key SEC game. Georgia has won six straight games in the series, but the Commodores are no longer the SEC doormat under head coach Clark Lea.
On paper, the Georgia-Vanderbilt game appears to be a bit of a mismatch. Georgia is favored by over three touchdowns and has won every game by at least 28 points this season. The Bulldogs are the nation's top scoring offense and face a Vanderbilt team that has not scored over 35 points in a game all season.
"They've got a great program, a great team," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said on Vanderbilt. "They arguably should have made the playoffs last year with the record they had and the teams they beat. He (coach
Lea) does a tremendous job there, and they're really a physical football team made in the same mold with a defensive coach as us."
Vanderbilt is a bit of a trap game for Georgia. The Bulldogs can't get sleepwalk through an early game before next week's contest against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
The Georgia-Vanderbilt game will be televised on SEC Network at 12:45 p.m. ET on Oct. 3. The SEC Network commentator crew for the contest will be Matt Schumacker (play-by-play), former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray (analyst) and Taylor Davis (sideline).
