Ahead of Week 9 college football action, ESPN "College GameDay" host Kirk Herbstreit shared the three teams he feels most confident in. On the "Nonstop" Podcast with Joey Galloway, Herbstreit wavered a bit when naming his top four teams and did not list four teams. Instead, he picked the three teams he felt most confident in so far.
Herbstreit feels the most confident in the Georgia Bulldogs
, Miami Hurricanes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish."Georgia, I think you'd feel good about maybe," Herbstreit said. "Even though they had a setback with an uncharacteristic Gunner Stockton turnover game against I still think you're okay with Georgia."
Georgia is coming off a loss to Auburn, but looked pretty good in every other game this season. The Bulldogs
don't have injury questions at quarterback like Ohio State.
"Miami, I talked about," Herbstreit said. He mentioned Miami first when listing teams that he would forecast to make the final four of the College Football Playoff. Miami is getting elite quarterback play from Darian Mensah and receiver Malachi Toney is in the middle of another outstanding season. Miami has a manageable remaining schedule.
"I think Notre Dame, even though they they had a setback in Provo, (had) a bye to kind of regroup," Herbstreit said. "I still think Notre Dame is is going to be okay."
Notre Dame has a healthy quarterback and a schedule that really only features one tough test against Miami, but that is at home. Notre Dame doesn't have to worry about a conference championship either.
"Other than Miami, Georgia and Notre Dame," Herbstreit added. "A lot of question marks."
Herbstreit thinks this year will be "really interesting" down the stretch. There's so many different teams battling for the 12 spots in the playoff and we've already seen a ton of parity this season. There's more upsets to come.
