ESPN "College GameDay" college football analyst Rece Davis saw his No. 1 ranked team lose for a third consecutive week. Davis is a voter the AP Poll. The Georgia Bulldogs were his previous No. 1, but the Bulldogs lost to Auburn Tigers and are no longer in his top five college football teams.
The BYU Cougars are Davis' new No. 1 team after a chaotic Week 7 that featured five of the nation's top eight teams lose. BYU beat Notre Dame at home to earn Davis' top ranking. After BYU, Davis ranks undefeated Miami second. Then he has Ohio State at No. 3, Notre Dame at No. 4 and Indiana at No. 5.
Tennessee, Texas Tech and Houston all joined Davis' top 10 rankings with Alabama, Texas and Utah all moving out. Both Alabama and Texas suffered their second loss
of the season in Week 7.
Week 8 does not have as many top matchups as Week 7, but it still shapes up as a key week with many teams facing potential elimination from the College Football Playoff picture.
