The Georgia Bulldogs have earned an early win on the recruiting trail over the Auburn Tigers ahead of their matchup on Saturday. Georgia flipped three-star cornerback commitment Nash Johnson III from Auburn.
Johnson is a local recruit that helps fortify Georgia's defensive back group in the class of 2027. Johnson had been committed to Auburn since May before flipping to Georgia.
Following his commitment, Johnson said that his "recruitment (is) 1000% shut down" after the announcement. Johnson is Georgia's No. 22 commitment in the class of 2027. The senior at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia, is the Bulldogs' second cornerback commitment. Johnson joins junior college product Alius Mayo, a four-star, as Georgia's two cornerback commitments.
The 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback has taken several visits to Georgia. Johnson was also previously committed to Alabama from Oct. 2025 to April 2026, so his recruitment will remain one to watch until the early signing period.
Georgia has the No. 10 recruiting class in the country following Johnson's commitment. Cornerback previously was Georgia's biggest position of need, but the Bulldogs and coach Kirby Smart have added to that position quite a bit with their two recent commitments.
