Former Georgia Bulldogsand current Las Vegas Raiderstight end Brock Bowers will miss some time, asESPN reported that he had surgery on his meniscus and could be out for 1-2 games or more.
Raiders writer Ryan McFadden reported that Bowers had been dealing with an injury during training camp, and the official diagnosis was made last week. The type of procedure Bowers got is a meniscus trim.
With a meniscus surgery, a trim usually means a quicker recovery time, as the affected part of the cartilage is removed via an arthroscopy. With a meniscus repair, the torn piece is stitched back to the knee and can cause swelling, with an extended recovery time.
For Bowers, the return to play doesn't seem to be long. However, the Raiders start the NFL season
in Week 1 on Sunday, Sept. 13 against the Miami Dolphins. Bowers could target a return in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers or in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints.
Bowers played college football at Georgia from 2021-2023, winning two national championships and multiple individual awards. He was the 13th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and had a great rookie season, with 112 catches for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns, en route to a Pro Bowl and first team All-Pro.
Last year, he had 64 catches for 680 yards and seven touchdowns. He did miss a few games due to injury. Bowers was also ranked 60th on the NFL top 100for 2026.
