The Detroit Lions moved on from former Georgia Bulldogs safety Dan Jackson prior to the NFL's 53-man roster deadline. Detroit did not elect to bring Jackson back on its practice squad and now Jackson is a free agent.
The Lions drafted Jackson in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL draft. Jackson posted three total tackles for the Lions this preseason, but it was not enough for him to survive roster cuts. Last season, the Lions placed Jackson on the injured reserve list after he suffered a leg injury during training camp.
Detroit waived Jackson and numerous other players on Aug. 30. The Lions are bringing back former Georgia wide receiver Dominic Lovett to Detroit's practice squad. The Lions selected Lovett in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL draft.
As a rookie, Lovett played in 12 games, primarily playing on special teams. Lovett and former Georgia offensive lineman Tate Ratledge are the two UGA players on Detroit's roster.
