Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Jalen Carter had his first big game of the 2026 season in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After a few games where he was not as effective due to dealing with a hairline fracture in his wrist, he really took off in this game.
Carter had five tackles, two sacks, a pass break-up, and two forced fumbles in the Eagles' 19-17 loss to the Jaguars. It's the first time he's forced two fumbles in his career since Sept. 25, 2023, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it's his first multi-sack game since Oct. 20, 2024.
Carter now has nine tackles and three sacks, tying his sack total from last season, and he also has a career-high three fumbles. He was all over the field, and if any of his fumbles were recovered,
the Eagles could've won the game.
The Eagles have had solid defenses and pass rushes from drafting several Georgia Bulldogs, and Jalen Carter is the centerpiece. Since the Eagles drafted him No. 9 overall in the 2023 NFL draft, he's earned two Pro Bowl selections and a spot on the second-team All-Pro team in 2024. He finished second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting in 2023, behind Will Anderson Jr., and he's looking for his first piece of hardware as well. He earned a massive pay raise this offseason, as the Eagles signed him to a four-year, $152 million extension, the largest contract for any defensive tackle in history.
Carter was a legendary Georgia Bulldog during his tenure from 2020-22. He had 83 total tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks in his Georgia career. He made the All-SEC second team in 2021, All-SEC first team in 2022, and Unanimous All-American in 2022. He helped Georgia win back-to-back national championships, and he would've been selected No. 1 overall if it weren't for a major off-the-field controversy.
