Former five-star Georgia Bulldogs quarterback commitment Jared Curtis flipped to the Vanderbilt Commodores at the last moment before the early signing period. One big reason why Curtis flipped was a higher potential for early playing time.
However, Curtis is going to have to wait to start at Vanderbilt. He lost the battle for the starting quarterback job ahead of Vanderbilt's season opener.
Former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, who is the SEC's all-time leading passer, shared his thoughts on Curtis not being the starter on the "Mac & Murray CFB Show".
"You picked Vanderbilt because I think deep down inside you knew (that) you were probably going to be the starting quarterback," Murray said. "And everyone around you thought you were going to be the starting quarterback.
So like, I think there's also a sense of embarrassment of people, like 'are you not as good as we thought you were.'
"Like, this is, let's be honest. It is still Vanderbilt. No matter how well they are moving in the right direction and how good Clark Lea is and he's got things rolling. I still think that from within that state, withing Nashville, obviously from the outside, it's still Vanderbilt. And you couldn't, as this great quarterback, win the starting job at Vanderbilt?"
