Former Georgia Bulldogs All-American defensive end and college football analyst David Pollack shared his prediction for the Georgia at Alabama Crimson Tide game on Saturday night. "This game always seems to matter," Pollack said on the matchup on his podcast, "See Ball Get Ball." He thinks the winner of the game will advance to play in the SEC championship.
Pollack describes Alabama as the country's "most improved team from the start of the season to where we're at now" in the season. The Crimson Tide are led by quarterback Keelon Russell and have the nation's No. 2 scoring offense. Pollack thinks that the weather is the only thing that "could ruin" the Georgia-Alabama game.
Pollack predicts that Georgia is going to go on the road and win 31-28
at Alabama.
"I think that I am going to trust Kirby (Smart) and the defense to make life harder on Russell than he's had it yet," Pollack said. "I think he is going to look more like a freshman than he has... I'm going to go Georgia." Pollack thinks Russell will continue to improve.
Pollack went on the heavily praise Russell as "the next guy" that has been elite at Alabama. Pollack notes that the Alabama offense is explosive and leans on the big play, while Georgia is more focused on staying ahead of the chains and running the ball.
"Bama can score at any point," Pollack said. However, it is Georgia who has the No. 1 scoring offense in the country. The Bulldogs have not trailed all season.
Pollack notes that Russell has struggled at times (later noting that struggle is relative) against the blitz and that Georgia is blitzing more often than it has in the past. "Georgia is going to blitz. They're going to be aggressive," Pollack continued. He thinks that Georgia has to be able to get Russell on the ground and that will determine who wins the game.
