Arkansas Razorbacks director of athletics Hunter Yurachek was not happy over the kickoff times for Razorbacks' games to start 2026 college football season. In fact, back in May, Yurachek issued a statement addressing his concerns about the close time between Arkansas' road game at the Utah Utes and their noon game against Georgia Bulldogs.

"I am extremely concerned and displeased about the recently released kickoff times for our football program in consecutive weeks this September and the impact it will have on the well-being of our student athletes," Yurachek said.

"ESPN has set out game at Utah for 9:15 p.m. CT on Sept. 12. We anticipated return to campus at approximately 6 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13 -- followed by an 11 a.m. home kickoff against

Georgia just six days later on Sept. 19."

Yurachek calls the Razorbacks' schedule a "welfare issue" that is more than a "competitive disadvantage" for Arkansas. He formally requested both the SEC and ESPN to find an alternative kickoff time for one or both games, but it did not work. The Razorbacks still had the late kickoff against No. 17 Utah, which Arkansas lost 43-10. Now, Arkansas faces No. 2 Georgia, who is the nation's leading scoring offense.

Georgia returns to play Arkansas in Fayetteville for the first time since 2020. The Bulldogs opened the season with Tennessee State and Western Kentucky, so the Arkansas will be Georgia's first true test. Georgia coach Kirby Smart is concerned about having to play on the road for the first time this season.

"I don't know," Smart said on Arkansas' schedule issues. "To each its own in terms of the way you maneuver the week and how you manage the week. From a standpoint of recovery, everybody's going to play pretty much the same number of away games and everybody's going to play the same number of home games, for the most part within one or two. You have to navigate that. It's certainly challenging.

"I wouldn't like it either, just a tough situation to be in."

Georgia is back-to-back defending SEC champions while Arkansas has not defeated a Power Four team since 2024, so the game appears to be a mismatch on paper.
