The Pittsburgh Steelers received some potentially huge injury news regarding one of their star wide receivers.
On Monday, Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. told reporters he hopes to return following the team's bye in Week 9. He'd like to come back after the bye, but he can't return if he's "not effective."
"It would be great to be back after the bye week, which is what I would like," Pittman said via Penn Live's Nick Farabaugh. "But I can't go out there if I'm not effective."
Pittman, who was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, was traded to the Steelers in March 2026 in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick. During his seven-year NFL career, Pittman has caught 492 passes for 5,343 yards and 25
touchdowns in 98 games.
Pittman's foot injury first appeared on the injury report ahead of Week 2, and he re-aggravated it during practice in Week 5. He was placed on injured reserve on October 10 and has missed the past four games.
We at Steelers Wire remain committed to providing key injury updates, such as Pittman's possible return after the bye in Week 9 and his confirmation that he won't need surgery.
