The Pittsburgh Steelers have a history of fielding great centers such as Mike Webster and Maurkice Pouncey. They are historically defined by grit, physical toughness, and an uncompromising work ethic. Center Zach Frazier is quickly proving he fits right into that lineage.
During an appearance on teammate Cameron Heyward’s podcast, “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward,” offensive tackles Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu shed light on Frazier's serious demeanor and relentless playing style. When asked who stands out as the most serious player in the offensive line room, both tackles pointed directly at Frazier.
"Zach," Jones said without hesitation. "He plays but he know how to play and work. Zach comes to work everyday ready to do whatever he can
to make the team better. You can just tell like when he goes out on the field like he's going to have his fun but it's always business for him."
That business-first approach is paired with an incredible pain threshold. Co-host Hayden Walsh brought up the famous clip from Frazier’s college career, where he limped off the field with a broken leg to avoid burning a vital timeout for his team. The story prompted Jones to share an equally absurd moment demonstrating Frazier’s refusal to leave the field in the NFL.
"I forget what game it was," Jones recalled. "One time like he got rolled up on the play. I think it was like his ankle or his calf and he could barely stand up and I'm helping him up. I'm like, 'Zach, like you got to go off the field.' He's like, 'No, I'm good. I'm good.' Like I literally like had to force him off the field. I'm telling like the trainers like, 'Come get him off the field.' But yeah, like he he's a tough cookie."
In a franchise built on physical dominance in the trenches, Frazier’s stubborn grit has earned immediate respect from veterans and young linemates alike.
