Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has transitioned to broadcasting and is now an analyst for NBC for their NFL coverage. He got his first work on Thursday as he was part of the pregame for the Hall of Fame Game between the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers
. It didn't take long for Tomlin to be asked about his replacement, Mike McCarthy, who takes over as the new Steelers head coach.Tomlin wasted no time in giving his full endorsement of McCarthy and praising the fit of McCarthy with the team and the team with him.
"He understands the standard that is Pittsburgh, and he'll embrace it," Tomlin said during the NBC pregame, where Tomlin is a first-year analyst.
McCarthy has some big shoes to fill and it all starts with winning
a playoff game. For everything Tomlin was able to accomplish, he admits the lack of playoff success down the stretch was hard to swallow.
