The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't taking the Week 4 loss to the Cleveland Browns lying down, as the team is already looking to bring in some additional help to their roster.
According to Penn Live's Nick Farabaugh, the Steelers brought in nine NFL free agents for visits or tryouts: linebacker Chad Muma, linebacker Marte Mapu, edge rusher Cam Sample, offensive tackle Tomas Rimac, running back Terrell Jennings, center Gus Hartwig, defensive back Miles Battle, offensive tackle Andrew Coker and center James Brockermeyer.
Of these nine players, the biggest names are Muma, Mapu and Sample. Muma was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft and has appeared in 58 games in his NFL career. Mapu was also drafted in the third round,
this time by the New England Patriots in 2023, and has appeared in 44 games over the past three seasons. Sample was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft and has appeared in 61 games, including five starts.
Surprisingly, the Steelers only brought in one defensive back in Miles Battle, despite plenty of injuries surrounding the secondary. But the Steelers do have a longer time to rest up and prepare before their Week 5 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The team may be confident in the recovery timeline for some of the defenders in their secondary.
