There's no sugarcoating this analysis: the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive line has been terrible. The "why" is pretty crystal clear, but that didn't stop former NFL head coach Jon Gruden from saying what fans were already thinking about the Steelers' O-line struggles.
On his YouTube channel, Gruden previewed the Week 3 clash between the Bengals and Steelers, which led him to call out Pittsburgh over their troubling offensive line repositioning.
“The offensive line has been one of the most incredible things that I’ve ever seen this year. There has been more movement on this offensive line than any line I’ve ever seen," Gruden said. "They’re all playing different positions this year. I’m like, ‘Where the heck's my left tackle? Oh, he’s at right
tackle. Where’s my right guard? Oh, he’s over there.’ A lot of mix-and-match going on, and I think that has a lot to do with the funk that they’re in. I’m just here to wonder — why?”
Gruden isn't alone on this one, as we at Steelers Wire were extremely concerned when news broke this offseason that Pittsburgh was experimenting with position changes along the offensive line, especially because Troy Fautanu and Dylan Cook were so successful last season at right and left tackle, respectively.
Mike McCarthy may need to answer for jumbling up an offensive line that was showing real promise. It's still early in the season, however, but injuries are beginning to pile up on the offensive line, and another reassortment could be coming soon.
