Joey Porter Jr. may not be the only cornerback getting traded away by the Pittsburgh Steelers, as a veteran All-Pro defender has just been linked to a huge piece of trade news.
In ESPN's NFL Week 5 latest intel article, insider Jeremy Fowler discussed the Detroit Lions cornerback problem and mentioned Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey as a potential trade solution.
"Is it worth calling Pittsburgh for Jalen Ramsey?" Fowler wrote about Detroit's need for a cornerback. "Not sure he's available, but the Lions' defense seems far from settled."
Ramsey, who was traded to the Steelers in June 2025, quickly became a cornerstone of Pittsburgh's defense thanks to his elite versatility to play in the slot, outside cornerback, safety, and even dime linebacker.
There may be one big problem when it comes to a trade, however. Considering Ramsey is set to turn 32 years old in a few weeks, as well as the fact he'll carry a $19.15 million cap hit in 2027 and a $24 million cap hit in 2028, it may be difficult for the Steelers to get any trade capital worthwhile.
If the Steelers struggle to turn things around before the November 11 trade deadline, a potential trade involving Ramsey could make sense for Detroit and Pittsburgh. But there's hope the Steelers can bounce back following an inconsistent start to 2026, so much so that the team could instead be buyers at the deadline.
