The Pittsburgh Steelers received some great news in the form of a Week 6 injury update ahead of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Following a multiweek absence, Steelers running back Rico Dowdle (toe) finally upgraded to full participation during Thursday's practice and appears to be trending in the right direction for a Week 6 return.

Dowdle, who signed with the Steelers as a free agent in March 2026, was coming off consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons with the Dallas Cowboys (2024) and Carolina Panthers (2025). A third with Pittsburgh in 2026 would make history, as there's
never been a running back to rush for 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons with three different teams.
Unfortunately, Dowdle suffered a double toe dislocation against the New England Patriots in Week 2 and has missed the past three games as he recovered from his injury. Jaylen Warren shined as RB1 in his absence, and it remains to be seen how the Steelers will handle the running back workload when Dowdle returns.
We at Steelers Wire will continue to monitor Dowdle's status, as another full participation during Friday's practice should all but confirm his Week 6 availability.
