The Pittsburgh Steelers have been decimated by injuries early in the 2026 season, and just when the team was beginning to get healthy, head coach Mike McCarthy shockingly went down at halftime. He has now shared a few more details about the freak injury that occurred during the Week 6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
McCarthy, who was unable to enter the locker room after spending the entire halftime in the blue medical tent, explained that it wasn't as bad as originally believed: He injured his ankle after someone stepped on his foot in Week 6.
"Good, I got stepped on," McCarthy told reporters in the postgame press conference. "But it's nothing major. Just shake it off."

McCarthy hilariously added that he doesn't recommend the blue medical tent, given that it's "really hot in there."
Despite being injured, McCarthy helped turn things around for the Steelers in a huge way during the second half, specifically the fourth quarter and overtime, when the team scored 23 points to secure a Week 6 win.
