With the trade deadline fast approaching, CBS Sports sought out every NFL team's biggest positional need. For the Pittsburgh Steelers? Wide receiver seemed like the easy pick. But CBS Sports decided to take a different approach in their latest analysis.
According to CBS Sports' Josh Edwards, the Steelers have a glaring need at cornerback, more so than any other position.
"After trading away Joey Porter Jr., Pittsburgh was left with Jamel Dean, Asante Samuel Jr. and Daylen Everette for those starting boundary roles," Edwards wrote. "They may be able to get by this season, but if the plan is to maximize this window with Aaron Rodgers, then they may want more reliable options."
Edwards continued that safety could be another interesting positional
need for the Steelers, while also casting doubt on whether Pittsburgh would pursue a receiver at the trade deadline.
"Safety would be another position of interest," Edwards wrote. "Wide receiver has garnered significant discussion but, at some point, the team has to trust the players they have already invested so heavily in."

We at Steelers Wire don't share the same outlook as Edwards when it comes to Pittsburgh's trade deadline needs. Samuel and Dean may not be the flashiest names at cornerback, and the depth could be concerning later in the season, but wide receiver is by far the biggest red flag on the roster.
DK Metcalf hasn't lived up to the WR1 status. Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson are on injured reserve. Third-round rookie Kaden Wetjen is only viable as a return specialist, and even that has been in question. Second-round rookie Germie Bernard has been solid, but it doesn't change the fact that Pittsburgh needs a difference-maker at receiver for Aaron Rodgers' last season.
