No one was happy when the Pittsburgh Steelers shockingly released fan-favorite linebacker Elandon Roberts to make room on their 53-man roster. But the Steelers are apparently keeping the door open for a potential return.
Speaking with reporters on Monday, Steelers general manager Omar Khan hinted that a reunion with Roberts was possible down the road.
"Not closing the door on that by any means," Khan said about potentially re-signing Roberts. "I have a lot of respect for E-Rob. We have some history with him, and he's done a good job. Love the player, love the person. I'm certainly not closing the door."
Roberts, who was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, played four seasons in New England before playing for the Miami
Dolphins (2020-2022), the Steelers (2023-2024), and the Las Vegas Raiders (2025).
Roberts ultimately returned to Pittsburgh on a one-year deal just a few weeks ago, and it didn't take him long to impress fans once again, as the veteran defender made huge play after huge play throughout the preseason.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to secure Roberts a roster spot, but here's to hoping the Steelers find a way to bring him back on the practice squad or on the 53-man roster as the regular season fast approaches.
