Speaking on 93.7 The Fan with Joe Starkey, Farabaugh explained that designating Porter as a full participant sets a clear standard for his availability.

“How you should read it is the Steelers saying, ‘Oh, we expect you to be a full participant, is setting up the Steelers to say, ‘Well, you’re a full participant all week, we expect you to play on Thursday.’ That’s how I would read it. The Steelers are moving the chess piece back in Joey Porter Jr.’s board, and we’ll see how he responds to that.
“To me this is a set up for the Steelers to successfully say, ‘He’s healthy. The conditioning is there. And the Pittsburgh Steelers expect Joey Porter Jr. to play on the football field. Even on a short week.’ It seems like they are using this opportunity to estimate the practice report to try and up the ante of Joey Porter Jr.”
Rather than expecting a quiet return, Farabaugh anticipates the situation could become contentious if Porter continues to resist taking the field.
“I will believe it when I see it. When I see Joey Porter Jr. out on the football field in his uniform. My imagination here will say Joey Porter will do something to respond back, something that will make him not play Thursday. If it doesn’t happen this week, I think it has to happen in Week 5, whether it’s for another team or the Steelers.”
With trade talks reportedly ongoing, the Steelers are signaling that time is running out. If a resolution isn't reached, financial penalties and formal grievances could quickly follow.
