A veteran wide receiver has just hit NFL free agency after getting released by the Indianapolis Colts, and the Pittsburgh Steelers would be an excellent landing spot.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Colts released veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton after he failed to appear in a single game for Indianapolis.
At 29 years old, Slayton is bound to have enough left in the tank to help the Steelers' offense in 2026. Pittsburgh's receiving corps has been devastated by injuries, with Michael Pittman Jr. (injured reserve), Roman Wilson, and Ben Skowronek set to miss time.
Drafted by the New York Giants in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Slayton went on to have a successful seven-year stint to begin his career, catching 296 passes for 4,435
yards and 22 touchdowns in 106 games.
The Steelers need to address their wide receiver injury woes, and Slayton could be just the answer they've been looking for. That, or the team could be interested in a trade in the next few weeks.
