The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off a surprising Kaleb Johnson trade with the Green Bay Packers that makes even more sense following an update on starting running back Josh Jacobs.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the NFL has placed Jacobs, the Packers' starting running back, on the Commissioner's Exempt List after he was charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property by the Brown County District Attorney's Office in Wisconsin.

Jacobs, who was originally arrested on May 26 on five allegations, including felony strangulation and suffocation, could face a lengthy suspension following the NFL's investigation.
Johnson, who was drafted by the Steelers in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, was in desperate need of a fresh start after a dreadful rookie season. He would've seen very little playing time behind Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle, but now has an opportunity to compete for a starting role with fellow Packers running back Marshawn Lloyd.
