Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. First, it was the Joey Porter Jr. rumors, and now it's the controversial comments about the Steelers' coaches. But Ramsey isn't going down without an attempt to clear his name before the media runs with a narrative that doesn't appear to exist.
Less than a few hours after his original comments that there was a disconnect between players and coaches, Ramsey took to social media to reassure fans that he supports McCarthy's staff while also clearing up his original stance about new players getting acclimated to the defense.
"Then secondly, in regards to today’s media session, I rock wit the coaches," Ramsey wrote via X. "I have absolutely nothing
but respect for them ALWAYS, but the best way to getting acclimated with new teammates is being on the field with them. That’s simple. They have to hear the terminology we use ON THE FIELD. We have to see how they play different techniques within the system. That’s a simple concept to understand lol. I was asked how they were getting acclimated [and] answered honestly. Go ask [Ryan Clark] if Troy [Polamalu] played strictly by the playbook or if they worked with each other on the field within the playbook. Regardless, much love [and] let’s get back on track with a win on Sunday."
As he mentioned in his response on X, Ramsey was asked by reporters on Friday about the newest additions to the secondary, to which he called on the coaches to put them on the field instead of just giving them a playbook. He added that there was a disconnect, which many interpreted as another layer in the players vs. coaches narrative running rampant in Pittsburgh.
It's hard to tell if Ramsey did enough damage control, but all eyes will be on the Steelers' Week 5 game to see if there are any more sideline outbursts directed at the coaching staff.
