The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing to take on the New England Patriots in Week Two of the NFL regular season and after one game, it's clear the offense is the problem. Next season is going to be a complete overhaul, starting at quarterback and with free agency. This mock draft is a perfect chance to build the offense of the future.
First round - QB Jadan Baugh - Florida
Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle are both heading into the final year of their contracts in 2027 and neither guy looks like a franchise running back at this point. Jadan Baugh is a crazy blend of power, size and explsoion and reminds us more than a little of a more dynamic Jerome Bettis.
Second round - QB Darian Manesh - Miami
While we haven't given up on Will Howard or Drew Allar, we couldn't pass up on Miami's Darian Manesh in the second. He's such an effortless
thrower of the football and the entire game seems to slow down for him, which is huge for a young guy.
Third round - WR Amare Thomas - Houston
There are some pieces in place at wide receiver but the Steelers have a ton invested in the position with DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. so we go with Amare Thomas as a replacement for one of them. Thomas is an excellent route runner with consistent hands and a guy the Steelers have already scouted this season.
Third round - S Xavier Scott - Illinois
The Steelers are thin at safety and Xavier Thomas has the kind of scheme and position versatility Pittsburgh needs in the secondary. Great value pick here as a replacement for DeShon Elliott.
Fifth round - OT Anthony Donkoh - Penn State
The future might be Max Iheanachor but we can't see the Steelers passing up a player like Anthony Donkoh as a depth option for both tackle spots.
