With the news that the Pittsburgh Steelers had traded cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys, we decided to update our three-round mock draft. The 2027 NFL Draft will be vital for head coach Mike McCarthy as 2027 will be the first year of a big rebuild at multiple positions.
First round - WR Charlie Becker - Indiana
We aren't convinced that Michael Pittman Jr. and DK Metcalf will be back in 2027 and Charlie Becker is the big target a new starting quarterback needs.
Second round - S Jaylin McClain - Ohio State
McClain has come on strong this season and is making a strong case to be a Top 50 pick. His style of play lines up with what the Steelers do and would be a great replacement for DeShon Elliott.
Third round - QB Drew Mestemaker - Oklahoma State
By the time the draft gets here, we doubt Drew Mestemaker will last this long but for now, if he's on the board, we aren't
going to pass up his unlimited upside.
Third round - CB DJ McKinney - Notre Dame
Another guy who is on the rise is DJ McKinney. One of the top transfer players in college football this year, he's got all the tools and potential to be a Joey Porter Jr. replacement, assuming Daylen Everett continues to develop.
