The Pittsburgh Steelers may have received some great news on DK Metcalf, but the team was also hit with a terrible injury update on tight end Pat Freiermuth — here's what fans should know.
Courtesy of a report from Steelers Senior Director of Communications Burt Lauten, Freiermuth was shockingly added to the Week 6 injury report with a calf issue and is now questionable to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
on Sunday. The #Steelers have added TE Pat Freiermuth (calf) to the injury report and is questionable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. Additionally, WR DK Metcalf (illness) has been removed from the injury report and will not have an injury designation as he is expected to play Sunday.

Freiermuth, drafted by the Steelers in the second
round of the 2021 NFL Draft, caught 261 passes for 2,676 yards and 22 touchdowns in his first five years with Pittsburgh. He has had a terrific start to the 2026 season to this point, leading the team with four touchdown catches in the past five games. Freiermuth's 169 receiving yards are also the fourth-most on the Steelers' offense.
With Roman Wilson, Ben Skowronek and Michael Pittman Jr. sidelined for Week 6, the Steelers need all the pass catchers they can possibly have. Freiermuth's absence would be a huge blow to Pittsburgh's offense, and we at Steelers Wire will continue to monitor the situation as Sunday's game against the Buccaneers draws ever nearer.
