Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn't looked great in what is almost guaranteed to be his last year in the NFL. It's so bad that a former NFL head coach believes the Steelers may have no choice but to call on their other quarterbacks if things don't get better soon.
According to former Super Bowl-winning coach Jon Gruden, Rodgers' declining production over the past several years should have the Steelers questioning whether or not to explore other options at quarterback if the offensive struggles continue.
"I think you gotta take a good look at where the Steelers are heading at quarterback," Gruden said. "As much as Aaron Rodgers has done in the NFL, he is 42 years old. He has been saying this is the last year he's going to play.
And if you look at the last five years of Aaron Rodgers, just 213 yards passing a game. If you look at all the quarterbacks that have thrown over 500 attempts, he is 25th in yards per game, he's 28th in completion percentage. Heck, passer rating, he's 23rd, and yards per attempt, he is 37th. You hear the numbers have declined. … We gotta see more from this Rodgers-led offense. Or there must be a reason why they kept four quarterbacks on the roster. I mean, what the heck is Will Howard here for? Or Drew Allar? And what is Mason Rudolph's role?"

In defense of Rodgers, the veteran quarterback hasn't gotten a lot of help from the other starters on offense. The pass protection has been terrible, leaving Rodgers pressured throughout games. Run blocking has been non-existent, which leaves Rodgers to lead a one-dimensional offense. Oh, and DK Metcalf, Rodgers' No. 1 target, is dropping balls left and right.
Gruden is right about one thing, though: we do need to see more from the Rodgers-led offense. If Mike McCarthy can't get things jumpstarted in a hurry, the team may fall too far behind in the AFC before the offense finally catches up.
