Late Wednesday night, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys pulled off a trade, sending disgruntled cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the Cowboys in exchange for a second-round draft pick in 2028 and a conditional sixth-round pick in 2027. The move itself doesn't come as a huge surprise as it was clear Porter Jr. didn't want to play for the Steelers and was willing to fake an injury to facilitate a trade but the internet is squarely divided on this news, with no consensus, even among Cowboys fans.
Many Steelers fans feel like this is a failing of General Manager Omar Kahn for getting too little in return for Porter Jr. or even for not giving Porter Jr. the contract he wanted so the trade wouldn't have to happen at all. This lines up with those
critics of the deal who believe the Rooneys should allow for contract negotiations during the season and kept trying to work out a contract.
On the other side, you have those who are glad to be rid of Porter Jr. and say it is good to remove the distraction. Some critics of Porter Jr. have come after him for how he handled this situation, referencing former Steeler Le'Veon Bell during his holdout and current Steeler Jalen Ramsey when he did something similar to force a trade.
For Cowboys fans, they are even divided on whether they think the team gave up too much, if cornerback was a need worth trading for or how the rash of these moves reflects on their front office.
