It's an exciting time to be a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team is sitting at 5-2 and is expected to be a "semi-big" buyer at the trade deadline. But there are still some players the Steelers could look to offload in the next few weeks.
From a veteran linebacker who deserves a starting job elsewhere to a running back who improved his own stock in Week 7, here's a look at three players the Steelers could trade away before the November 10 deadline.
Cole Holcomb
It's hard to imagine the Steelers dealing Patrick Queen after his return to form in recent weeks, which leaves Holcomb as the most likely trade candidate from their linebacker room. A veteran defender with 79 games of experience, including 59 starts, Holcomb would be enticing to some linebacker-needy
teams not looking to spend big at the trade deadline.
Mason Rudolph
Will fans ever get tired of seeing Rudolph linked as a trade candidate? Will we at Steelers Wire ever give up on such an idea? Possibly. But in a league filled with plenty of quarterback injuries, the Steelers and their four-man QB room may be the most likely trade partner for these teams in need of a signal caller. Aaron Rodgers and Drew Allar aren't going anywhere. The same can likely be said for Will Howard. That leaves Rudolph as the obvious odd man out if the Steelers decide to trim down their quarterback position.
Rico Dowdle
Although the Steelers appear to be set on utilizing both Jaylen Warren and Dowdle, the team would be wise to pursue a trade instead. Warren has emerged as a top-10 running back, and the Steelers are only hindering their offense by taking touches away from him to give to Dowdle. Pittsburgh needs to call up any NFL teams interested in a cheap, starting-caliber running back at the deadline.
