"He was just talking about the ability to play fast in this defense," Fittipaldo explained. "There's not as much thinking as there was with the Mike Tomlin defense. And it's only one game, but I think you saw that from Payton yesterday. He wasn't kind of, you know, he wasn't trying to read and react. He was just going. He knew what his assignment was and he was there."
Fittipaldo added that when a linebacker possesses Wilson's rare speed and tackling ability, eliminating hesitation naturally produces massive statistical output.
"When you have the type of speed that he has and you can tackle the way he does, you're going to rack up some numbers. So, I thought that was, you know, a really good first game for Payton Wilson as well," added Fittipaldo.
