The Pittsburgh Steelers offense fell flat on Sunday against the New England Patriots but this came as no surprise to head coach Mike McCarthy. In the postgame press conference, McCarthy made the shocking admission that he saw this coming after the team's performance in practice during the week.
New England blew out the Steelers 20-3 and the offense never got out of park. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for only 187 yards and he could only muster a measly 4.8 yards per attempt. This was due in large part to a Steelers offensive line that looked lost and the continued struggles of wide receiver DK Metcalf.
The run game fared no better, with Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle combining for just 65 rushing yards on 18 carries.
As bad as the offense was,
McCarthy admitted after the game that this type of performance was far more disconcerting than fans could have expected, given the level of transparency.
