As the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare for their Week 6 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, one promising standout safety may be nearing a return from injury.
Courtesy of Wednesday's injury report, it was reported that Steelers safety DeShon Elliott, who missed 12 games in 2025 and the first five games of the 2026 season on injured reserve, practiced as a limited participant ahead of Week 6's game against the Buccaneers.

Elliott, who signed a two-year extension with the Steelers in June 2025 after a stellar 2024 season, suffered a handful of injuries in 2025 that ultimately derailed
his second year with Pittsburgh. In Week 1, Elliott suffered an MCL sprain and missed the team's next two games. He returned in Week 4 but ultimately suffered a season-ending hyperextended knee and hamstring injury in Week 8.
Despite returning to practice in training camp, Elliott was strategically placed on injured reserve to open up another roster spot while he continued to work his way back to 100% health.
Elliott saw his 21-day practice window open, and the Steelers could activate him off injured reserve in time for a Week 6 return, giving the defense a huge boost for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.
