Joey Porter Jr. has broken his silence regarding Pittsburgh Steelers trade rumors, and fans may be pleasantly surprised by what he had to say.
According to Nick Farabaugh of PennLive, Porter denied ever requesting a trade from Pittsburgh, despite reports indicating the disgruntled Steelers cornerback had made that decision. Porter also shot down rumors of needing a second opinion for his back injury.
"Joey Porter Jr. denied ever having plans of getting a second opinion on his back issue and also rebuked the idea that he ever requested a trade out of Pittsburgh," Farabaugh said.
Porter, who became one of the league's top man-coverage cornerbacks over the past three seasons, spent the entirety of training camp on the physically unable to perform
list with a back issue. But many assumed the move had more to do with his contract drama than an actual health issue.
Insiders indicated that both Porter and the Steelers were open to a trade, but it's clear that neither side is looking for a split at this time. Now all eyes turn to Porter's availability in practice as the Steelers prepare for their Week 3 matchup against Cincinnati Bengals
