Mike Tomlin may have stepped down as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he still believes his former team has all the tools to chase a Super Bowl during the 2026 season.
Making a guest appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Tomlin shared why he believes the Steelers could win a Super Bowl, pointing to complete offensive and defensive units, including a solid special teams squad.
“I certainly do,” Tomlin said. “I think that’s the only reason Aaron [Rodgers] comes back. He believes it, I believe it. I don’t think he comes back if he doesn’t believe that. I think they got the bones of having a good unit at all three phases. Certainly, they’re probably not being talked about in the ways that some others are being talked about, but that can be a good motivator
and a catalyst for them as well. I think they got high expectations, and I think they should have high expectations.”
Tomlin, who was the head coach of the Steelers for 19 seasons, walked away from the job following the 2025 season. Mike McCarthy was hired as his replacement and worked with Steelers general manager Omar Khan to build a talented roster this offseason.
While Steelers fans were well aware of Tomlin's playoff struggles, he certainly knows a Super Bowl team when he sees one, and that's exactly what Pittsburgh is hoping for in what's likely Rodgers' final season in the NFL.
