Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger called for a huge change revolving around standout 2026 running back Jaylen Warren.
On a new episode of the Footbahlin' with Ben Roethlisberger podcast, Big Ben pointed out that Warren is barely getting any red-zone rushing attempts and called on the team to give their talented running back a few more opportunities at the goal line.
“His touchdowns could be higher in the sense that, when they get down there. You’re telling me when we get to the five-yard line, we can’t give him the ball two or three times? He could have even more touchdowns.”
Warren, who signed with the Steelers in 2022 as an undrafted free agent, has steadily emerged as one of the league's top playmakers out of the backfield. During
his first four years in the league, Warren recorded 2,632 rushing yards, 1,227 receiving yards, and 14 total touchdowns in 64 games. Under Mike McCarthy's new-look offense in 2026, Warren has exploded out of the gate, recording 998 yards from scrimmage but only two rushing touchdowns in eight games.
The Steelers have struggled in the red zone, but much of their inability to score when it matters most could be solved by heeding Roethlisberger's advice and giving Warren more touches at the goal line.
