As soon as Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rico Dowdle got over a concerning injury he suffered early this season, a surprise health setback popped up just days before the Week 7 Paris game against the New Orleans Saints.
Courtesy of the team's Week 7 practice report, the Steelers revealed that Dowdle was limited with a new knee injury. The severity of the surprise setback and when he suffered the injury are unknown, but his limited participation is worth something.

Dowdle, who signed with the Steelers in March 2026, was coming off consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with two different
teams: the Dallas Cowboys (2024) and Carolina Panthers (2025). A third consecutive 1,000-yard season with Pittsburgh would make Dowdle the first running back in history to do so with three different teams, but injuries have made achieving the feat more difficult. Oh, and Jaylen Warren's emergence certainly didn't make it easier.
We at Steelers Wire will monitor Dowdle's status moving forward, with his practice availability on Thursday and Friday giving us a better idea of whether or not he can suit up in Week 7.
