The Pittsburgh Steelers are riding the high of their 34-22 win over the Indianapolis Colts. While the defense showed improvement overall, it became clear that they play better when cornerback Jalen Ramsey plays well.
In a clip shared on X by reporter Brendan Howe, Steelers inside linebacker Patrick Queen spoke candidly about Ramsey, highlighting the elite defensive back’s competitiveness, quiet focus, and massive impact on the team’s defense.
Responding to questions about Ramsey's toughness and on-field presence, Queen praised his teammate's relentless drive and athletic ability.

“We know he’s a baller, so we know the only thing that’s gonna keep him out is himself. He’s never gonna do that, so, but I mean, it’s always fun when you got a guy like that flying around making plays and it’s just a confidence thing,” said Queen.
“He really wasn’t talking that much yesterday as he usually talks, I guess because nobody probably told him anything. So he was quiet mouth, but we love how he’s a baller, a guy that was definitely have his back 100% of the time. As I said, it’s always good to have him out there.”
Queen’s comments offer a clear glimpse into the mutual respect defining Pittsburgh’s defensive unit. Ramsey, long recognized as one of the NFL's premier secondary playmakers, brings an elevated intensity that elevates everyone around him. Beyond physical execution, Queen emphasized how Ramsey’s presence serves as a major psychological boost for the entire group.
Interestingly, Queen noted a rare shift in Ramsey’s demeanor during the Colts game, describing him as unexpectedly quiet compared to his usual talkative presence on the field. Yet, regardless of whether Ramsey is exchanging trash talk or quietly going about his work, Queen made it clear that the locker room stands firmly behind him.
Having a dynamic, high-energy playmaker roaming the secondary instills measurable confidence throughout every level of the defense, reaffirming why the Steelers value his presence so immensely every single week.
