Cameron Heyward, whose contract dispute dominated headlines last August, knows exactly what Joey Porter Jr. is going through with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Heyward revealed some important advice to Porter about his contract dispute with the Steelers before offering his praise and support for the young cornerback.
"Don't take it personal, but you will," Heyward said about the advice he'd give Porter. "It's a business at the end of the day. There's nobody in that locker room that doesn't want Joey on that field, and that will never change."

Heyward's contract dispute
began when he signed a two-year, $29 million extension in September 2024. Heyward told the Steelers front office that when he bounced back from an injury-riddled 2023 season, he'd be looking for a pay raise. Well, that's exactly what happened as Heyward began to hold in during practice before securing an adjusted deal for up to $18 million.
Porter hasn't necessarily held in like Heyward, as the talented cornerback began training camp on the physically unable to perform list. But Porter has since been activated and was noncommittal about playing in Week 1.
