Things are getting interesting in the Steel City, as ESPN's Adam Schefter provided a huge trade update on Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., including teams that are inquiring about a potential acquisition and why there may be a roadblock preventing a trade.
According to Schefter, a "handful of teams" like the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions are inquiring about a potential trade for Porter. Although the Steelers are open and willing to hear these trade calls, it would take a "strong compensation package" to get a deal done.
"The Steelers would be willing to listen to trade offers for Porter, according to sources, but they also would want a strong compensation package if they were to deal the fourth-year star," Schefter wrote.

didn't indicate what a potential "strong" package could look like, but we predict the Steelers could be looking for a first-round draft pick.
Porter, who has yet to make his 2026 season debut, is expected to miss the Week 3 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. He missed the entirety of training camp after being placed on the physically unable to perform list with a back injury, but many have speculated this had more to do with contract talks than an actual health setback.
Considering that the Steelers don't negotiate new deals midseason and Porter is in the final year of his rookie contract, it's no wonder why trade reports have been flying left and right. Here's to hoping Pittsburgh still manages to somehow keep Porter on their roster, as the young cornerback is one of the best in the league at his position.
