Fans only need to wait 4 more days until the Steel City brand of football returns when the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Atlanta Falcons on September 13. In the spirit of the countdown to kickoff, we'll take a look at the most recent and best players ever to wear No. 4.
Steelers current No. 4: WR DK Metcalf
Metcalf, who was traded to the Steelers in March 2025, is the current No. 4 wearer on the roster.
Last 5 Steelers to wear No. 4
- DK Metcalf, 2025-present
- Kyle Allen, 2024
- Matthew Wright, 2022
- Nick Sciba, 2022
- Dustin Colquitt, 2020
Best No. 4 in Steelers history: P Josh Miller
No. 4 doesn't have the same historic weight as other Steelers' jersey numbers, but the best wearer is punter Josh Miller.
Miller, who signed with Pittsburgh in 1996, became one of the most reliable punters in Steelers history the late 1990s and early 2000s. During his Steelers tenure, Miller punted 572 times for 24,547 yards, the second most in franchise history.
After leaving Pittsburgh,
Miller went on to win Super Bowl XXXIX with the New England Patriots, but his longer run with the Steelers makes him deserving of being named the greatest to ever wear No. 4.
