The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly reuniting with a familiar, hard-hitting force inside the second level of their defense. According to Steelers beat reporter Alan Saunders of Steelers Now, Pittsburgh is set to bring back 32-year-old veteran inside linebacker Elandon Roberts.
Saunders broke the news via social media, reporting that the organization is hosting the veteran linebacker in Pittsburgh with the intent to finalize a contract agreement.
"The #Steelers are bringing veteran inside linebacker Elandon Roberts back to Pittsburgh today with the intention of re-signing him, per source. Roberts, 32, was released by the team at the end of training camp," shared Saunders on X.

The move marks a swift return for Roberts, who was initially released during final roster cuts at the conclusion of training camp. Known for his aggressive, downhill run-stopping ability and vocal leadership in the locker room, Roberts previously served as an integral part of Pittsburgh’s linebacker rotation, providing physical thump against run-heavy divisional rivals in the AFC North.
Bringing back an established veteran who is familiar with his teammates, even if the defensive playbook and terminology are new. Having such an experienced veteran rejoin the roster allows Pittsburgh to immediately fortify its inside linebacker depth without needing an extended onboarding period.
Roberts' familiar presence adds proven experience, run-support reliability, and physical enforcement to the core of the defense as the team navigates the grinding middle stretch of the season.
