The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't done addressing their secondary, as the team added a standout rookie safety to their practice squad.
On Wednesday, the Steelers signed 2025 First-Team All-American safety Bishop Fitzgerald to their practice squad.

Fitzgerald, who played at North Carolina State (2023-2024) and USC (2025), recorded 148 combined tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 10 interceptions, and 14 passes defended during his collegiate career in the AAC and Big Ten.
Signing with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft, Fitzgerald was released as a part of final roster cuts on August 30.
Fitzgerald fills a need for the Steelers, who lacked a true ballhawking safety
archetype on their roster. It may not be long until the undrafted rookie is called up to the active roster, which may actually depend on how quickly he can get up to speed in Pittsburgh.
