According to multiple reports, Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. does not plan to play on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. This leaves the door open for the Steelers to trade Porter Jr., which, according to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, is something Porter Jr. is open to.
“Sources say Porter, who had previously requested a trade from the Steelers , is open to playing elsewhere, and an early-season trade is very possible," Rapoport said. "The Steelers have been open to listening to offers for Porter, sources say. But there has not been notable interest at Pittsburgh's asking price of a premium draft pick -- possibly in the first round -- and no serious trade talks have developed despite the Steelers' willingness to deal him.”
According
to Rapoport, there have been no serious inquiries from other teams but this has been as much to do with the Steelers asking price as anything.
With Porter Jr. out, Asante Samuel Jr. will get the start and veteran Jalen Ramsey will see a heavy workload as well.
