Trades, trades, and more trades have dominated the Steel City headlines over the past several weeks, as the Pittsburgh Steelers have once again been predicted to acquire a wide receiver target just days away from the November 10 deadline.
According to a trade prediction from FOX Sports' Ralph Vacchiano, the Steelers were projected to acquire Indianapolis Colts standout wide receiver Josh Downs.
"The Colts are going to trade him for whatever they can get, and he makes the most sense for the Steelers, even if he’s similar to Wilson," Vacchiano wrote. "The more weapons they can get for Aaron Rodgers on his last ride, the better. And since he can’t throw downfield like he used to, they’re better off with slot-types who can catch short passes and make big
plays."
Downs, who was drafted by the Colts in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, has caught 228 passes for 2,470 yards and 12 touchdowns in 55 career games. He's one of the league's most underrated separators at the wide receiver position and would be an excellent addition to the Aaron Rodgers-led offense in Pittsburgh.
The Steelers have been linked to more wide receivers than just Downs, however, as Brian Thomas Jr. of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Ladd McConkey of the Los Angeles Chargers, Garrett Wilson of the New York Jets, and even Calvin Ridley of the Tennessee Titans have all been tied to Pittsburgh over the past several weeks. We at Steelers Wire remain committed to monitoring any trade situation involving the team, especially when it pertains to any additional wide receiver talent acquisitions in the coming days.
