The formerly disgruntled Jacoby Brissett’s attendance at Arizona Cardinals training camp made the team a less likely trade landing spot for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph. But the latest update all but put the final nail in the coffin.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Brissett and Arizona finally reached a new deal ahead of the 2026 season, solving the Cardinals’ biggest concern by far.
Arizona and QB Jacoby Brissett, who skipped most of the team’s off-season program as he requested a new deal, reached agreement today on a reworked contract.

Following the report, it’s fair to say that the Cardinals
are eliminated as a potential trade suitor for Rudolph. It made sense that if Arizona didn’t have Brissett but wanted to stay somewhat competitive, Rudolph was a decent trade option. But now, the Cardinals have a solid quarterback room featuring Brissett, Gardner Minshew, and rookie Carson Beck.
Rudolph has likely found himself as the odd man out in the Steelers’ four-man quarterback room. Aaron Rodgers and rookie third-rounder Drew Allar are guaranteed roster spots, while Will Howard offers more developmental upside than Rudolph may be able to fend off.
Still, considering how valuable quality backup quarterbacks are in today’s league, Rudolph could garner trade interest from other NFL teams, like the Indianapolis Colts or even the New York Jets.
